The Busy Mom Guide To Stress Free Organization edition by Brian Night Crafts Hobbies Home eBooks Reviews
Always interesting to read ideas other people come up with to keep things organized and clean at home. And busy moms often have the best ideas.
Since I only skimmed a few pages so far and it already got me moving - desk area cleaned up (less than 5 min to wow) and my laundry room less chaotic (that'll take awhile) - I give it 5 thumbs up. Oh, stars, in this case.
I'm heading back in for more inspiration, tips, and get-to-its. Most organization books seem written to give us an excuse to read a book rather than get busy "I'm reading a book about organizing, buddy! Leave me alone, I'm working on it!"
Not this one ... no guilt ... no excuses ... just motivation for action.
Has a few good tips... but I have seen all of them on pintrest. As for the tips I was interested in reading, instead of having actual suggestions, they just basically said "do it." Yes, I know I should do it... but how can I do it in a short amount of time? How can I do it stress free? It also uses scare tactics (like saying clutter is going to make you sick). Sometimes these two things are combined to make little sense (clean up your bedroom or old food in there will make you sick... why not suggest no eating in the bedroom? Or better yet, describe how to make a designated eating area if you don't have a dining room, and how to keep it neat).
The whole thing reads like a webpage written by someone who speaks English as a second language, with the intent of putting affiliate links to the products mentioned in the tips (the ones that were actually tips, that is.)
I real a lot about organizing so a lot of this I knew however, there are still really good tips in here. Sometimes seeing big projects broken down is enough to energize me to get up and actually start something. I have a tendency to feel like I don't know where to start so I just wont.
When I'm busy, I get unorganized. And when I'm unorganized, the resulting clutter discourages me from doing something to make it orderly. So I really appreciate The Busy Mom's Guide -- it gives a lot of helpful yet easy and affordable tips. Author Brian Night writes, "A properly organized environment will not only improve your daily productivity but will also reduce the amount of stress in your life." I couldn't agree more!
So, as the author advised, I started with my kitchen. And I was quite surprised how things changed - from cluttered, unproductive space to a clean and productive one. My habit was to start cleaning in the living room, but I right away saw the benefit of starting in the kitchen. I think I'll stick with this excellent suggestion! Another thing I found helpful is this book's suggestion to have an organizational game plan. I just got the book a few days ago, and it has already helped me against the stress of a messy house.
... but the author makes it sound like if you're not organized you are a filthy hoarder who never cleans your home. Grammar and sentence structure need some work too. Was this a translation? Cuz it needs to be proofread and republished if that's the case.
I gained a few tips and I like how the book is quick and easy to read, but I really purchased this book because it promised illustrations of the tips. I am a visual learner and was excited about this prospect, only to find that there were very few and the "step by step" was a bit general. I think this is a good overview but if you are new to home organization you may want to look at kon Mari first.
